Long road home

man has it been that long since we've been here? i suppose it has. and that lays completely at my feet. i've been off in superhero land fighting evil and i let this book slip by the wayside. suffice it to say there's more to it than that as we've been through some creative changes around here for sure, but getting beyond all that, we're moving forward.

first, The Kansas Hit is no longer a limited series. It's now a graphic novel. i've completely reworked the scripts into one complete and cohesive format and it's going into one big volume.

next, we've got an all new artist that i'll be announcing very soon. you're gonna dig it trust me.

we wanted to begin production a month ago but we ran into a couple of scheduling conflicts. that being the case we're still on for mid summer to start and we look to break out with this book next year at some point. so stay tuned folks cause the Kansas Hit is back in action and stronger than ever!

mini update

Hey folks! We haven't fallen off the face of the Earth! In fact, Jerry is hard at work on pages as he makes the shift from 12 page zero issue to full length first issue! That's right, you heard me. We have gone back to the original script and with some edits placed the 12 page zero issue called for in the SP Idol contest back into the full length first issue. This means you get ten more pages of story framed as it was originally intended! Kinda like a director's cut! But don't worry not a single page or panel of Jerry's awesome work has had to be altered or lost. We integrated it back together seemlessly and I think you'll all agree it's going to be one great looking book. More info as it comes when possible, so stick with us. We're shooting for a 2007 release on this book.

Kansas Hit Withdraws from Small Press Idol

Due to some personal situations and life interference we regret to inform you all that we had to withdraw from the Small Press Idol competition.

This does not mean, however, that we are giving up! The Kansas Hit WILL be printed in the near future, and the team IS staying together. So keep it locked to this blog for more information as we get closer to realizing the dream!

Round 3 is in!

We made it!!! woo! Jerry came through with the art, and Doug and Brant brought it home with the colors and letters! so the Kansas Hit is still in this hunt! The voting will start on Monday it looks like, with less than the 15 teams that came out of Round 2 it appears. At least two of the teams seem to have missed the deadline. So while that sucks, the contest goes on and we're in it. Check here for the official Kansas Hit contest page, which if I understand it right will live on far after the contest itself is over. Kinda cool regardless actually. So get ready folks cause we need your votes!

Touch and Go

We finally got the inked pages yesterday and today! Letters are done on all three pages now, grayscaling is done on about one and a half last I heard. It's going to be tight, but we'll pull off having all three pages grayscaled for Round 3.

It's funny, we started off as the very first entry in the contest, were one of the first few entries in the second round, and here we are pushing the deadline in the third. But we're a good team and we'll pull through. Keep it locked as voting for round 3 begins next week!

Things Are Moving Along

Well, since no one else is posting I might as well.

We got the first finished page in yesterday and it looked awesome. We are all very positive about our Round 3 contribution so far.

Of course, I can't show it to you as that's against the rules, but you'll see it soon enough with less than a week to deadline.

Expect the media blitz to begin hitting soon!
